ABOUT
If you know me from my writing or have heard me speak, you will already understand that I’m unafraid to question dogma and authority or to drive change. I’ve been fortunate to have had a rewarding career in Psychiatry and the College has played a part in this. I believe the College should work so that you can say the same, despite current challenges and constraints. However, in conversations with colleagues, I hear frustration with our workplaces and leaders, anxiety about what the future holds for Psychiatry and a sense that the College sometimes struggles to find a broad focus on the issues that matter most to us. I also hear a sense that things cannot be changed and believe that the College offers a unique vehicle to challenge this if we speak and act as a knowledgeable and caring profession and aren’t afraid to be imaginative and disruptive.
I believe I can lead necessary change as a solutions focused clinical academic psychiatrist, with a record of using evidence to guide the best interventions for our patients and in support of my colleagues in their practice and careers.
